Department of Innovation Universities and Skills
In June 2007 the Government created the new Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS). The new Department will deliver the Government’s long-term vision to make Britain one of the best places in the world for science, research and innovation. It will ensure that the UK has the skilled workforce it needs to compete in the global economy.
The functions of the new Department
This new Department brings together functions of the Office of Science and Innovation from the former Department of Trade and Industry with further and higher education and skills, previously part of the Department for Education and Skills.
The Department will bring together the nation’s strengths in science, research, universities and colleges to build a dynamic, knowledge-based economy. It will lead the Government's work to deliver its long term vision to make Britain one of the best places in the world for science, research and innovation.

UKTI is the government agency charged with assisting UK companies to trade internationally, to attract foreign direct investment to the UK and market the UK abroad.

An executive agency of the Department of Health that enhance and safeguard the health of the public by ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe. No product is risk-free. Underpinning all the MHRA's work lie robust and fact-based judgements to ensure that the benefits to patients and the public justify the risks.

National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE)
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health.
NICE produces guidance in three areas of health:
- public health - guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention of ill health for those working in the NHS, local authorities and the wider public and voluntary sector
- health technologies - guidance on the use of new and existing medicines, treatments and procedures within the NHS
- clinical practice - guidance on the appropriate treatment and care of people with specific diseases and conditions within the NHS

NHS Institute For Innovation and Improvement
The NHS Institute was established in 2005. It aims to support the NHS with high-impact solutions to some of its biggest challenges, as well as innovative ideas, new practices and technologies that will really make a difference to the delivery of patient care.
The mission of the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement is to improve health outcomes and raise the quality of delivery in the NHS by accelerating the uptake of proven innovation and improvements in healthcare delivery models and processes, medical products and devices and healthcare leadership.
The Institute is underpinned by specialist competences in leadership, learning, service transformation and technology and product innovation.

NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency
NHS PASA is an executive agency of the Department of Health. We work to ensure that the NHS in England makes the most effective use of its resources by getting the best possible value for money when purchasing goods and services.

The South West Science and Industry Council and Science South West exist to ensure that the extraordinary talent within the scientific, technical and commercial sectors of the South West of England is brought together to drive the economy of the region.
The South West Science and Industry Council has set up a YouTube channel showing video presentations about key funding schemes.
