A Background to SEMTA
In April 2003 SEMTA received its license
as the Sector Skill Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technology. This followed a long period of development, redrafted submissions and negotiation to finalise the position. Charles Clarke, Secretary of State for Education following the recommendation of the Sector Skills Development Agency in February 2003, issued the license. A license was also issued to the E Skills SSC on the same day, which means that 2 SSCs in addition to the five trailblazers have now been recognised by Government. Read more...
