3rd call of the Research Councils Follow on Fund for proposals falling within the remit of BBSRC.

Applications are now invited for Research Council Funds Available to Demonstrate the Commercial Potential of Ideas.  The Fund is designed to help demonstrate the commercial potential of ideas arising from Research Council funded research. It provides financial support at the very early or pre-seed stage of turning research outputs into a commercial proposition. This is the proof-of-concept model where further work on an idea will take it through to the stage at which the route to commercialisation is clearer, for example a spin-out (seed or venture finance) or licensing opportunity. This often takes small amounts of funds to enable activities essential to preparing a robust business plan BBSRC commits £1.4m pa though three calls per year. It is expected that grants awarded through the Fund will be typically in the range of £90-100K over 12 months.

Applications to BBSRC for Follow-on support must fall within BBSRC> '> s remit and will draw substantially on the outputs of recent BBSRC research funding.

The closing date for receipt of proposals is 31 October 2007 Fro more information please click HERE
