Express Diagnostics a division of Cardio Analytics
Express Diagnostics was formed in April 2007 as a division of Cardio Analytics, a leading Central Cardiology Service Provider to the Clinical Drug Trials industry. Cardio Analytics was itself established in 1994 as a cardiac investigation service to local GPs and clinics, before becoming more involved in pharmaceutical clinical trials for drug development which formed the main core of the Company’s business.
Alongside this work the Company maintained its in house clinic, which has seen steady growth over the past thirteen years. Good working relationships have been developed with both the Plymouth and South Hams Primary Care Trusts, providing a range of services at its clinic for NHS patients such as Echocardiography and Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring.
Over the past number of years the Company’s services have been developed to include a self referral Heath Screening service and a range of medicals, aimed at the insurance and transport sectors. Another area which has been developed is the Company’s 24 hour (Holter) ECG analysis service which now carries out work for both NHS and Private Hospitals across the UK.
In December of 2006 the Company’s service portfolio diversified further when the Plymouth PCT and Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust needed help in reducing and managing its Audiology/Hearing Aid fitting waiting lists, which according to some sources had patients waiting for up to two or three years! Six months on and the Company has two state of the art Audiology suites, employs two full time audiologists and has seen over a thousand satisfied patients. This close working relationship between the NHS and the independent sector has been instrumental in providing hearing patients with a vastly improved service in the Plymouth area.
With this service diversification into areas other than Cardiology, the name Cardio Analytics was no longer deemed appropriate for the Clinic and it was decided that the clinic should have its own identity, hence the creation of Express Diagnostics. The Cardio Analytics name will be retained for the Company’s pharmaceutical drug development work.
Express Diagnostics’ services continue to develop with enquiries from Primary Care Trusts around the country, which are considering setting up their own community/GP based Holter services. The PCTs are looking to Express Diagnostics to provide equipment and analysis expertise. It is hoped that this and the Company’s other services can be utilised more extensively. By working alongside the NHS, Express Diagnostics can help to manage its workload and to provide all patients with a swift, reliable and first class service.
